How to Overcome Writer's Block – 10 Steps

When you can't write, follow these steps:
  1. Cry until your tears dry out.
  2. Kick and scream without breaking anything. Try with a pillow. Scream in solitude, away from civilisation. Not only because you might get arrested for nuisance, but also because you might end up in a loony bin. You don't want that. Or maybe you do. Reflect.
  3. Eat chocolate, ice-cream, fast-food.
  4. Run to burn the calories you accumulated because of the above, and to consume the rage, anger, frustration, resentment. Boxing is another method. Very effective.
  5. Watch motivational & inspirational movies & stories of success
  6. Build self-esteem and self-confidence. Knowledge is the key. Read, listen, reflect on everything you find online. The internet is filled with free resources. Take advantage of them all.
  7. Indulge yourself in luxurious Spa days. Your home is a perfect place if you have a bathtub. Fill it with bubbles, bicarbonate of sodium, salt and balsamic drops.
  8. Offer some of your time to help people in need.
  9. Take some time away from friends and especially from those who don't support you. Solitude is a great tool. Use it appropriately. You will be surprised by how much you get done when you are alone.
  10. Write your most intimate thoughts on paper and read them out loud. If they are bad, negative and scary, you'll notice that the devil is not as black as it seems. On the other hand, if they are positive and happy, you'll realise that they make you feel better instantly.
